Promoting Akan Literacy Across Ghana

The Akan Literacy Development Foundation (ALDF) is a non-profit organisation established to promote sustainable literacy development in the Akan language across Ghana. Despite being the most widely spoken language in Ghana, Akan literacy remains limited — held back by inadequate teaching resources and a lack of culturally relevant materials. ALDF exists to bridge that gap.

Our Vision

To create a literate society in which the Akan language is widely used to promote education, cultural identity, and lifelong learning.

Our Mission

To promote literacy in the Akan language through community programs, educational support, literacy materials development, research, and advocacy.
